A few reminders for the last week of school! Thank you to all the parents, teachers, administrators and more who helped out this year, giving our kids so many great learning experiences, activities, opportunities and FUN!!
Tomorrow, Wednesday June 21 is the Pre-K Pizza Party. This is NOT a family event.
Also tomorrow is the 5th grade Moving Up Ceremony, to be held in the gym. It begins at 10 AM. Thank you to all the 5th grade teachers and parents who have made this last week of school so fun for our 5th grade, including all those who volunteered at the 5th grade Carnival this past Saturday, and the 4th grade parents who are helping out with refreshments at the Moving Up. Please remember during the ceremony to be courteous to those around you – everyone there wants to see their child walk across the stage to receive their “diploma”. Do not stand up, hold up your iPad, etc., or otherwise block someone else’s view. Please also do not crowd the aisles and block the emergency exits. We have safely gotten your kids through elementary school K-5! Please don’t ruin our record 🙂
Many classroom parents have sent out notes for contributions to class gifts. If you were planning on sending in a contribution, please remember to do so as soon as possible so those parents do not have to shop at the last minute. As always, you are never required to donate to a class gift, and you are more than welcome to do something on your own, if you would prefer. Many teachers I know say that the best gifts that they ever received were notes, pictures and thank yous from their students or former students.
Thursday and Friday are both half days – early dismissal is at 12:20 PM for all grades. There is no YMCA After-care. Lunch will be served both days, however, it will only be cold sandwiches, no hot lunch. Please remember to make arrangements for your children!
Look for your child’s final report card on Friday, June 24. Included on their report card will be their assigned teacher for next year. Also included will be their supply list. Save those Staples coupons!
We will be having one PTA meeting over the summer to finalize a 2016-2017 budget, and talk about some restructuring that we think will help with parent engagement. Notices will go out on ParentPlace and on our Facebook page with details.
Summer school is only for those who have been invited – you will already know who you are! Summer program runs from July 5-August 5 for general education, and July 5-August 12 for special education.
The first day of school for 2016-2017 is Tuesday, September 6. Friday, September 2 will be Pre-K and Kindergarten Orientation. All students will be able to drop off their supplies and see where their new classroom will be on this day. Times will be announced later in the summer.
SAVE THE DATE! As we did last year, we are going to have a Welcome Back to School Sidewalk Chalk Social on Labor Day, September 5, from 9-11 AM. The PTA will provide water, and chalk to decorate in front of the building with pictures and welcome back messages for teachers and friends. You will also get a first look at the new doors that will be installed on the building this summer! Hope to see you there.
And lastly, have a safe, fun, and wonderful summer! We know you worked hard this year and hope that you have a great break so you can return ready and refreshed in September!
