Harvest Fest is almost here!
New Scotland Elementary’s biggest and best family event is coming soon! Friday, November 17th from 6-8 PM will be our annual Harvest Fest. This is a fun, family-friendly event held every November. Admission is free! All kids who wear purple or NSES spirit wear will receive 1 FREE raffle ticket for the “Lucky Number” auction.
There will be music and dancing in the Cafetorium. Free snacks will be at the lunch counter! Arts and crafts will be in the hallway on the Parkwood side for kids who need a break from the noise.
Many thanks to our wonderful Albany JCC on Whitehall Road! We will be having two silent auctions for two very special items donated to us by the JCC. One is a 3 MONTH MEMBERSHIP to the JCC, the other is ONE WEEK of SUMMER CAMP! Both of these items are well worth the money spent, and we thank the JCC for being so generous.
Our “Lucky Number” auction will be full of choices for everyone! Wine baskets, restaurant gift certificates, kid items, handmade items and more! Tickets are $1 for 2, $5 for 12 or an entire arm’s length for $10! Check it out in the gym.
Our annual dessert auction is a silent auction, full of amazing sweet treats for the entire family. From cookie plates to entire cakes, it’s a true showcase of the amazing talent at NSES!
Our Scholastic Book Fair will be set up in the gymnasium with the auctions. Remember to bring your kids’ wish lists from their school visit during the week. Great time to get some gift shopping done, too! Our book fair takes cash, checks and credit cards. Books make AWESOME gifts! If you can’t make it to the Book Fair, you can always shop our fair online at http://www.scholastic.com/bf/newscotlandelementaryschool1 through November 30.
The 5th graders will be hosting a “Make Your Own Slime” station for $4. Participants will go home with their very own container of homemade slime!
A representative from the Albany Public Library will be available to sign up your student for a library card! The library has a great “starter” card that a student can get without an adult. They can take up to 3 books at a time with their very own card. If you don’t have one, hope that you take advantage of this valuable service and check out all that the library has to offer. The library card is good at any Albany branch.
As always, there will be NSES water bottles and car magnets for sale. $5 each! You will also be able to check out the new apparel and order, as well as pick up some clearance apparel from prior years. 5th grade will be having a table for Hoffman Car Wash tickets and NSES bracelets. Car Wash Tickets make great gifts too!!
We still need volunteers to make this event run smoothly. We need people selling raffle tickets, working the book fair, handing out snacks and refilling the water coolers, middle & high schoolers to help out with arts and crafts, set up and clean up, etc. If you can volunteer a bit of your time, we greatly appreciate all of your help! Go to http://newscotland.parentplace.info/volunteer to sign up, or contact Jolyn Gallagher at 518.694.1237, or ANY PTA officer (firstname.lastname@example.org).
We’re looking forward to a fun night! We really hope we see you and your family there!
